
Leidos’ Digital Engineering team is seeking a dynamic Engineering Manager and Product owner to lead the development, delivery, and evolution of the HERMES Family of Digital Transformation Solutions. This role blends deep technical leadership with strategic product ownership and people management. The ideal candidate brings experience in digital engineering, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), enterprise architecture, and modern software ecosystems. Paired with strong communication, proven successful collaboration, and organizational leadership, this role is a highly influential position within the Leidos Office of Technology.
This role is responsible for defining product roadmaps, setting priorities aligned with business value, guiding cross-functional engineering teams, and ensuring the HERMES ecosystem meets both programmatic and enterprise needs in alignment with the HERMES Chief Architect vision and Leidos’ Digital Engineering Strategy. This leader will also be a people manager who develops talent, drives collaboration, and builds a high-performing engineering culture.

Primary Responsibilities:
Product Ownership & Strategy
•Lead the product vision, roadmap, and value delivery for the HERMES Digital Ecosystem, ensuring strong alignment with enterprise digital engineering strategy and customer mission outcomes.
•Translate stakeholder needs—programs, engineering functions, enterprise digital engineering initiatives—into clear, prioritized product requirements.
•Manage the feature backlog, define acceptance criteria, and ensure agile teams deliver incrementally and predictably.
•Evaluate new technologies, tools, integrations, and capabilities to continuously evolve the HERMES platform.
•Partner with architecture, cybersecurity, PLM/ERP/MES integration teams, and program teams to ensure interoperability and scalability.
Engineering Leadership & Delivery
•Lead a cross-functional team of engineers (software, systems, MBSE, data, integration) through planning, execution, delivery, and continuous improvement.
•Work closely with the Digital Ecosystem & Architecture development team and the Chief Architect to define system architecture, interface definitions, toolchain integrations, and deployment patterns.
•Ensure engineering rigor and alignment with technical standards while maintaining the agility required for rapid prototyping and iterative releases.
•Manage risk, coordinate dependencies, and drive issue resolution across the HERMES portfolio.
People Management & Team Development
•Directly manage and mentor engineering staff, including career growth, skills development, and performance management.
•Build a team culture focused on innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
•Lead workforce planning, hiring, onboarding, and development of roles critical to digital engineering and ecosystem integration.
•Promote cross-disciplinary thinking and close partnership with DE/MBSE practitioners, data engineers, and software teams.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
•Serve as primary point of contact for product updates, roadmap alignment, and cross-organizational coordination.
•Provide clear, structured communication to senior leadership, program teams, and technical stakeholders.
•Drive adoption of HERMES tools and practices across the organization through training, demos, documentation, and user engagement.
Basic Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree and 12+ years in engineering, computer science, or a related field. Additional years experience may be used in lieu of a degree.
•7+ years of engineering experience with increasing responsibility; 3+ years in technical leaders or product ownership roles
•Strong understanding of digital engineering, MBSE, toolchains, and model-based practices
•Experience operating in agile environments and managing product backlogs
•Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams and manage direct reports
•Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
•Active DoD Top Secret clearance
•Must be a US Citizen
Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience with PLM/ERP/MES integration, digital thread implementations, or enterprise architecture
•Experience with defense programs, classified computing ecosystems, or secure toolchains
•Familiarity with SysML, Cameo, Windchill, cloud environments, automation pipelines, or API-based integrations
•Proven ability to navigate matrixed organizations and drive adoption of new digital engineering capabilities
