About this role

Leidos has an immediate opening for a Junior Software Engineer on the Systems Engineering & Integration Contract (SEIC), supporting United States Air Force (USAF) and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Mission Planning. The selected candidate will join a high-performing agile team supporting a nationally significant and fast-paced program. Program execution follows DevSecOps best practices and employs robust SW development, troubleshooting, test and production environments using a full suite of team collaboration tools. The program is focused on creating new mission planning capabilities while sustaining the fielded operational system. Candidate will generate technical solutions comprised of many SW/HW products being developed for various deployment environments. The ideal candidate must possess a high level of energy and be extremely proactive in collaborating in a fast-paced environment with a very diverse set of stakeholders. The environment demands the ability to quickly establish solid working relationships with coworkers and customers to effectively integrate into a complex technical program with many moving parts and schedules. Candidate must have at least entry-level experience with software development processes.

Please note this position does allow to telework 2 days a week. To be considered you must be able to be onsite in the Orlando office weekly.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, well-organized, eager to learn, and confident in working and communicating within a collaborative team environment.
  • Collaborating on Development and Integration - Assisting in the development, testing, troubleshooting, and integration of products for fielded Mission Planning hardware and software. This includes support for the USAF Standard Desktop Configuration (SDC)/FMS Run-time Media (RTM) (Windows 10/11 operating systems) and configuring custom hardware drivers for specialized Mission Planning hardware.
  • Software Integration -Integrating Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) and Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) software applications, which involve creating custom scripts and deployment solutions for fielded Mission Planning hardware.
  • Technical Design Support - Contributing to the technical design process by analyzing application requirements and supporting the integration and implementation of applications and utilities.
  • Testing and Documentation - Participating in the creation and execution of test cases and use cases to ensure proper integration and functionality.
  • Product Validation - Assisting in the validation of products to ensure they meet quality standards and are approved by Quality Engineering for delivery to the customer.

Basic Qualifications:

  • US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance is required
  • Bachelor's degree with 0-2 years of experience or a Masters Degree
  • Basic Windows Operating System knowledge (Win 7/10/11).
  • Entry-level Windows software development knowledge.
  • Computer hardware debug experience (driver install, debug and analysis).
  • Strong knowledge of troubleshooting windows software issues.
  • Ability to multi-task and function effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Strong documentation ability.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD clearance of Secret or higher
  • Software scripting experience (PowerShell, batch/cmd files, C++, C#
  • Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT)
  • Software Testing Concepts
  • Computer HW Integration knowledge (Swap HW components etc.)
  • SQL Database experience
  • CompTIA Security+ Certified
  • CompTIA A+ Certified

Pay Range:

Pay Range $57,850.00 - $104,575.00
