Position Description

At a Glance

 

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Software Testing and Quality Engineer I to join the WattStopper Team in Carlsbad, CA. The Software Testing and Quality Engineer I supports the development, testing, and automation of embedded firmware and software systems for electronic devices. This role focuses on manual and automated testing, building foundational automation capabilities, and supporting the full software development lifecycle. It is ideal for someone early in their career who is eager to learn, solve problems, and grow in a structured engineering environment.

 

What Will You Do?

 

Firmware Testing and Automation

  • Review requirements and user stories to develop basic test scenarios
  • Execute manual and automated test cases for firmware, software, and mobile applications
  • Assist in building and maintaining automated test scripts and frameworks
  • Perform validation, performance testing, and basic debugging
  • Create test data, simulations, and environments to verify system behavior
  • Identify, document, and track software and firmware defects
  • Follow defined testing procedures and quality standards

Software Development Support

  • Support software and firmware design and development activities
  • Participate in coding, debugging, testing, and code reviews under guidance
  • Assist with build plans and technical documentation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to stay aligned with project goals

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field 

 

Experience: 0–2 years of experience in software or firmware testing 

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Basic proficiency in C or C#, Python, and scripting languages 
  • Familiarity with Git and defect tracking tools 
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills 

Salary Range: $75,000 - $81,000
