Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Production Specialist to join the Data Center Power and Control Division Starline Team in Reading, UK. The Production Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day production, scheduling, and tactical purchasing activities required to support customer orders and ensure on-time delivery. This role works closely with internal stakeholders to establish realistic and customer-focused due dates, while coordinating with peers in the planning group and the production floor to optimize production output.

 

In addition to production specialist responsibilities, the Production Specialist performs all tasks associated with ordering and expediting finished goods, components, packaging materials, raw materials, and MRO commodities. The position supports all business areas within Starline and plays a key role in driving the organization’s customer-focused values through effective material management and production coordination.

 

What Will You Do?

  • Ensure accurate new-item setup, including BoM, routing, and documentation review, with correct entry into SyteLine.
  • Maintain high data accuracy for drawings, work instructions, and wiring diagrams.
  • Receive prototype requests and engineering drawings, update the Prototype File, and maintain the Prototype Tracker.
  • Coordinate with CSS to ensure prototype orders are entered and visible in the open order book.
  • Create prototype and subcomponent jobs in SyteLine and review shortages, communicating gaps to Supply Chain.
  • Manage the prototype approval process through PLM, SyteLine, and related systems, distributing required forms and tracking all sign-offs.
  • Notify CSS and Engineering once approved and coordinate any required testing or shipment.
  • Use SyteLine to identify and expedite production constraints; release and prioritize work orders.
  • Communicate daily order status, priorities, and schedule changes to internal teams.
  • Assess production capacity, adjust schedules, and maintain realistic expectations based on manufacturing processes.
  • Support Quality Technicians and shop-floor personnel in submitting Problem Reports within the PLM system.
  • Create and submit New Item Requests within the PLM system.
  • Maintain current materials and current operations in Syteline based on PLM data.
  • Plan and issue purchase orders to support engineering, prototypes, and production needs.
  • Ensure material availability for make-to-order products and monitor supplier performance.
  • Follow up on open POs and acknowledgements to prevent bottlenecks.
  • Perform procurement administrative tasks, including invoice resolution, reporting, and supplier meeting documentation.

Qualifications

Required Skills

 

Education:

  • Associate’s degree or relevant work-related experience.
  • Bachelor’s in supply chain, Operations, or Engineering as preferred.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of production/ planning/ buying experience within an ERP system (SyteLine and SAP preferred).
  • Experience in a manufacturing, assembly and/or discrete manufacturing environment.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Flexible and able to thrive in an environment with changing requirements, schedules, and priorities across multiple projects.
  • Self-driven, resourceful, and committed to continuous improvement and positive change.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, able to evaluate complex issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Clear and concise communicator with strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively across teams and with all levels of the organization.
  • Customer-focused, with an understanding of customer needs, service quality standards, and satisfaction evaluation.
  • Proficient in ERP systems and PLM (Oracle), including items, BoMs, routings, planning parameters, production orders, labor collection, inventory transactions, data extraction, reporting, and troubleshooting.
  • Capable of performing basic root-cause analysis and communicating findings effectively.
  • Skilled in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Willing to work varied schedules or shifts when required.
