About this role

Ledcor Highways is now hiring Heavy Equipment Technicians for our Highway Maintenance team in various locations in Alberta.

In this position you will perform maintenance and repair of heavy construction and maintenance equipment such as plow and sanding trucks, loaders, and light support gear used to keep the roads in your community safe.

Rates & Premiums:

  • Journeypersons will be ​provided a base hourly rate of $49/hour

  • Mechanics who live and work in Hinton, Whitecourt or Edson will be paid a skilled trade premium of $3/hour

  • Mechanics who live and work in Grande Prairie, Beaverlodge and Valleyview will be paid a skilled trade premium of $5/hr

  • Pension & RSP plans

Work Conditions:

  • Flexible schedules

  • ​Work is based in your home shop, with occasional travel to field operations in your locale

  • As LHL respond to changing weather conditions, some on call duties may be required

  • Comprehensive benefits provided through CLAC, including Health, Dental, RSP and Pension

  • Camp accommodations available in Edson only

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance and repair of plows/sanding trucks, loaders, light support gear and heavy construction equipment

  • Perform CVIP inspections on trucks and trailers

  • Attend service calls in the field as required

  • Follows manufacturer and internal maintenance programs and inspection procedures

  • Engages and participates in Ledcor safety policies and procedures

  • Complete maintenance records and documentation as required

Qualifications:

  • Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (On-Road & Off Road) or a registered Apprentice

  • Experience with heavy civil construction, highway paving, or highway maintenance equipment (e.g., snowplows) is an asset

  • CVIP mechanic license is an asset

  • Must successfully pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing

  • Valid Driver’s License with the ability to provide a 3-year driver’s abstract

  • Strong ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, including those with sketches and diagrams

  • Proven ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
