We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. This role provides senior-level systems engineering leadership across the full system lifecycle, supporting mission-critical enterprise and defense systems through design, integration, sustainment, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Develop, manage, and maintain system requirements, including documentation and traceability matrix development, ensuring traceability from stakeholder needs through design, implementation, and operations

  • Contribute to and facilitate preliminary design, critical design, and detailed design activities, leading design reviews and ensuring compliance with requirements, codes, and standards

  • Support system verification and validation activities including test planning, execution, documentation, as-built records, and lessons learned

  • Work cross-functionally with project managers, engineering disciplines, operations, and executive leadership to ensure successful system implementation, integration, sustainment, and operations throughout the system lifecycle

  • Scope and execute trade studies, analysis, research and development, preliminary and detailed system architecture designs, and development of Enterprise Services

  • Develop junior and mid-level engineering personnel through Agile delivery practices, including decomposition of work into Epics, Stories, and Tasks

  • Maintain alignment in support of Team Leads across infrastructure, networks, integration, logistics plans, cybersecurity and physical security protection plans, and cost and schedule estimates

  • Coordinate with engineering leaders to support process engineering and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences across technical and non-technical disciplines

  • Provide status updates and briefings to leadership, including senior government customers and stakeholders

  • Use interpersonal skills to resolve both technical and organizational conflicts

  • Perform other assigned duties as required to meet mission and international requirements

What You Bring

Basic Requirements:

  • Must have 10 years of general (full-time) work experience

    • May be reduced with completion of advanced education

  • Must have 5 years of directly related experience

  • Must have 1 year of experience working in a management or leadership role

  • Must have a strong understanding of systems engineering standards such as the INCOSE SE Handbook or ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288

  • Must have expertise in systems engineering processes, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies and tools, and engineering documentation management

  • Must have demonstrated understanding of Agile team management concepts, practices, and delivery methods

  • Must have a working knowledge of IT infrastructure, networking, Linux and Windows systems, virtualization, data storage management, system lifecycle management, and change management

  • Must have experience using Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visio or other CAD tools, and Agile workflow management applications such as Microsoft Planner, Jira, Asana, or Trello

  • Must have, or obtain, an active DoD Secret Security Clearance

Desired Requirements:

  • STEM degree from an accredited college

  • Experience leading teams supporting Missile Defense Agency Continuous Test and Training Operations (CTTO)

  • Documented experience developing and editing Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) products for major space and IT systems

  • Skills in logical architecture modeling and/or interface definition, with knowledge of cybersecurity concepts and security accreditation

  • Familiarity with the C2BMC system and other Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) systems

  • Experience mentoring junior engineers to drive value and continuous improvement
