Job Summary
The Slitter Operator is responsible for slitting and rewinding finished product, performing inspections, and collecting production data prior to release to Finished Goods. This role ensures that all work meets company and customer specifications while maintaining efficiency, safety, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform all daily activities in a safe and proper manner
• Work overtime as required to meet workload, staffing, or customer demands
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Assist with organizing and maintaining supply inventories related to the finishing department
• Set up slitting and rewinding equipment based on job specifications or verify previous shift setup
• Monitor and maintain knives, spacers, and related tooling, notifying supervision of repair or replacement needs
• Perform quality checks before and during production and isolate non-conforming product as required
• Provide customer samples as needed
• Coordinate with assistants to ensure timely staging of work and efficient handling of finished rolls
• Accurately complete paperwork and enter required data into the management information system
• Work with scheduling personnel to track, verify, and report completed job quantities
• Ensure finished products are labeled according to customer and company specifications
• Coordinate with scheduling to meet delivery requirements while maintaining production efficiency
• Communicate regularly with supervisors and scheduling personnel regarding quality, safety, cost, or delivery concerns
• Safely operate and understand material handling equipment
• Verify, organize, and monitor daily finished goods and inventory levels
• Assist with the development of written procedures
• Participate in preventive maintenance activities on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervision or management
