The Admitting Representative at Larkin Community Hospital plays a critical role in ensuring a smooth and efficient patient admission process. This position serves as the first point of contact for patients entering the hospital, responsible for accurately collecting and verifying patient information, insurance details, and medical history. The role requires close collaboration with clinical staff, insurance providers, and patients to facilitate timely admissions and resolve any discrepancies or issues that may arise. By maintaining meticulous records and adhering to hospital policies and regulatory requirements, the Admitting Representative helps optimize patient flow and supports the overall quality of care. Minimum Qualifications:
- Previous experience in patient registration, admissions, or a healthcare administrative role is preferred
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, insurance processes, and healthcare regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist patients and their families during the admission process, providing clear information and support.
- Coordinate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure all necessary documentation and authorizations are obtained prior to admission..
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, HIPAA regulations, and other relevant healthcare laws to protect patient confidentiality and data security.
Skills:
The Admitting Representative utilizes strong communication skills daily to interact compassionately and clearly with patients and their families, ensuring they understand the admission process. Attention to detail is critical when entering patient data and verifying insurance information to prevent errors that could delay care or billing. Proficiency with electronic health record systems and other healthcare software enables efficient data management and coordination with clinical teams. Problem-solving skills are essential to address discrepancies or challenges related to patient admissions and insurance coverage. Additionally, knowledge of healthcare regulations and confidentiality requirements ensures compliance and protects patient privacy throughout all interactions.
