We are currently recruiting… 

Kind and compassionate Social Workers to work within the  Urgent Care and Short Term Support at Lancashire County Council. 

This is a wonderful chance to make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable individuals within the community who require much needed care and support. We seek to promote independence and well-being at every opportunity, giving our service users the strength and courage to lead normal and healthy lives once again. As a Social Worker experienced in working in Intermediate Care settings and hospitals, you will be reaching out to those in crisis or who are acutely unwell within the community and the hospital itself. 

The office is based in Accrington, however there is an expectation for you to travel to different locations to provide assessments therefore a driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential. As this is a 7-day service (including bank holidays) there will be a requirement for you to work up to one in four weekends, we offer pay enhancements for weekend working.

Passion – you'll be passionate about your work and maintaining peoples independence, making that valuable difference to the lives you touch – we want you to be a strong advocate, ensuring the right services respond in every circumstance by providing accurate care assessments – with your empathetic nature and approachability you will be forming strong working relationships, achieving trust and a solid rapport – you will also be passionate about your role and promote our intermediate care services to raise awareness of what can be achieved with our intervention – we need a knowledgeable Social Worker with a sunny disposition and a can-do attitude, enhancing the lives of our service users throughout the community.

Challenge – the world of social care is never without its challenges and this environment is no different with the variety of work we have on offer – there is always a fluctuation in demand so we need a professional who is self-motivated and can take a proactive approach to ever changing priorities – from offering advice to NHS colleagues and non-social work professions to dealing with bed based requests, you will be supporting with an amalgamation of varying responsibilities – it is imperative that our service users remain at the heart of everything you do and that we always endeavour to achieve the best possible outcomes for them.

You must be registered (SWE) to be appointed as a Social Worker or have applied to register with the Social Care Council. For Social Worker/Care Manager positions where non social worker qualifications are accepted, registration is not required, and you will be appointed as a Care Manager.

You will be required to provide a car for use in connection with the duties of this post and must be insured for business use. However, we may consider you if you cannot drive because of a disability.
