Job Description Summary

               

The Inventory Accounting Team ensures accurate and comprehensive tracking of the organization’s inventory throughout its entire lifecycle. This team manages key inventory processes, including monitoring stock levels, reconciling discrepancies, and recording all inventory-related transactions with precision and timeliness.

Partnering closely with Operations, Supply Chain, IT, and Finance, you will drive process efficiency, strengthen inventory controls, and support cross-system data integrity. By delivering meaningful insights into inventory performance and trends, you will play a critical role in financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards and internal control requirements.

Job Description

  • Lead month-end close activities related to inventory, including preparation of account reconciliations and journal entries with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Review and validate transactions impacting inventory including warehousing invoices, warehouse adjustments, and physical inventory counts.
  • Assist with the management and reconciliation of inventory across 3PL’s (third party logistics).
  • Work closely with Finance, Supply Chain, IT, and external partners to execute smooth EDI onboarding, oversee testing, resolve data issues, and ensure systems integrate correctly.
  • Resolve 3PL inventory issues by partnering with internal and/or external teams to determine root causes and corrective actions.
  • Proactively identify and implement opportunities for process improvements, automation, and documentation within the inventory accounting function.
  • Review and strengthen SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and internal/external audit requirements.
  • Oversee quarterly cycle counts and annual inventory audits at 3PL sites, ensuring accuracy, proper documentation, and alignment with internal controls.
  • Lead ad hoc projects related to inventory accuracy, including audit support, system enhancements, and automation.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation and training materials to ensure consistency and accuracy.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field strongly preferred
  • 2–4+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally with direct exposure to inventory accounting.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to assess and interpret large volumes of transactional data.
  • Advanced Excel skills; with the ability to build and maintain large excel models.
  • Experience with ERP systems (especially SAP) is a plus.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to evaluate complex issues, recommend solutions, and clearly communicate findings to the broader team.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range posted based on various factors, including, but not limited to, job duties, experience and expertise. A candidate's work location could also impact the actual compensation being outside of the range to reflect local cost of labor. A reasonable annual estimate of the range for this role is listed below.

               

Pay Rate or Range: $76,420.00 - $114,640.00
