ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES:

The Part‑Time Head Coach for the Men’s and Women’s Tennis programs is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and oversight of all aspects of both intercollegiate tennis teams. Responsibilities include coaching, athlete development, recruiting, academic monitoring, fundraising, and program administration. The coach must uphold the mission of the Athletics Department and maintain full compliance with NCAA Division II and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) rules and regulations.

The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership qualities, effective communication skills, and a commitment to fostering both athletic and academic success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Coaching & Player Development

• Plan and conduct practices, individual instruction, and match preparation.
• Provide technical, tactical, and mental coaching appropriate to the collegiate level.
• Foster a positive team culture emphasizing sportsmanship, accountability, and academic success.

Recruiting

• Identify and recruit qualified student-athletes in accordance with NCAA and PSAC rules.
• Communicate regularly with prospective student-athletes, families, and coaches.
• Meet roster expectations set annually by the Director of Athletics.

Compliance (NCAA Division II & PSAC)

• Ensure full compliance with NCAA Division II and PSAC regulations regarding recruiting, eligibility, CARA logs, amateurism, financial aid, and student‑athlete conduct.
• Submit all required compliance documentation, including eligibility forms and recruiting records, in a timely manner.
• Monitor academic eligibility, progress‑toward‑degree requirements, and adherence to institutional and conference standards.
• Participate in compliance training and ensure that assistant coaches and athletes are fully educated on rules.

Program Administration & Team Management

• Coordinate schedules, travel, and match logistics.
• Provide leadership and direction to assistant or volunteer coaches.
• Establish team rules, expectations, and disciplinary standards. 
• Oversee equipment and practice facility usage.

Program Representation 

• Represent the College and Athletics Department at competitions, recruiting events, and community activities.
• Assist with program promotion through camps, clinics, or community outreach as appropriate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of two to three years of tennis coaching experience, preferably collegiate or elite junior level.
• Understanding of NCAA Division II and PSAC compliance systems and eligibility requirements.
• Demonstrated success in recruiting and athlete development.
• Fundraising and community engagement experience preferred.
• Competitive playing background strongly preferred.

WORK REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to demonstrate tennis skills and actively coach on court.
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and manage equipment.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days).
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
