Job Description:

The Airborne Focus Factory of L3Harris Space and Airborne Systems located in Rochester, New York, is looking for an experienced Tool Maker to join the assembly and integration team. The job scope includes complex parts, assemblies for engineering prototypes, unique products, or low-volume manufacturing. Scope includes the assembly and integration of low volume hardware.

Candidate must possess a machining and fabrication background and ability to work within tight tolerance specifications. Scope is focused on the timely execution of assigned tasks as an individual contributor and function well within a team environment.

This role involves working directly with engineers on the design, development and fabrication of new and existing products to optimize design for manufacturability.

Essential Functions: 

• Tool Maker or Machinist experience.
• Perform work in manufacturing and/or prototyping environment.
• Must be able to read engineering drawings/blueprints/schematics and detailed work instructions.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and manufacturing documentation.
• Must be mechanically inclined and be able to work with very fragile and precise optomechanical assemblies.
• Speaks clearly and concisely, presenting ideas effectively to individuals or groups.
• Ability to identify problems and suggest solutions.
• Applicants must be U.S. citizens and be willing to submit to a background investigation, as a government security clearance may be required for this position.
• Able to work overtime, shift work, weekends, and some travel.
• Demonstrates appropriate computer knowledge.
• Understands and adheres to established policies, procedures and proper labor charging practices.
• Able to perform as an individual contributor as well as within a team environment.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent, and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience or experience in manufacturing and/or prototyping environment or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related manufacturing experience. 

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Skilled Journeyman's Certification.
• Experience in an Electrical/Mechanical/Optical fabrication discipline.
• Aerospace or Defense industry experience.
• Experience with CNC programming utilizing MasterCAM.
• Experience with sheet metal fabrication.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York state is $55,000-$102,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
