Job Description:

The Mechanical Drafter is a unionized role, which operates under the direction of higher-level personnel to prepare designs and layouts for less complex mechanical units, ensuring compliance with L3 Technologies, Inc. standards and practices.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Receives sketches, descriptions, written or verbal information, as appropriate.
  • Under direction of higher-level personnel, prepares calculations, layouts, and details of design working from general design outlines.
  • Designs less complex units, including items like chassis and layout of component parts from sketches, considering economy of manufacture and in accordance with L3 Technologies, Inc. standards and practices.
  • Prepares lists of parts and bills of material.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of details in their work.
  • Operates interactive computer-graphic systems as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance required.
  • Prepare designs and drawings of complete mechanical enclosures, 3D routing of cables, castings, and machined housings compliant with ASME Y14.100.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
  • Experience using 2D/3D Computer Aided Design tools and PLM management systems.
  • Experience with Model Based Definition (MBD) techniques in accordance with ASME Y14.41

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience using PTC Creo up through at least Creo4.0 as well as Windchill Data Management System.
  • Current possession of a US Government Secret security clearance desired.

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $60,000 - $128,789. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
