To strengthen our technology team, we are looking for a Mechanical / CAD Design Engineer (f/m/x) to help develop and continiuously improve our proprietary in-house hardware systems for immversive VR productions. This role can be filled on a part-time or full-time basis.


Your Role


As a Mechanical / CAD Design Engineer, you will be a hands-on contributor to the development of complex mechanical systems for immersive VR productions. You will work closely with colleagues across software, electronics, operations, and content production to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs into our high-end VR setups. This is a unique opportunity to combine engineering expertise with creative prototyping in a fast-paced, innovative environment.


Tasks


Mechanical Design & Development



  • Design, develop, and iterate mechanical components and assemblies using CAD (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Inventor, or similar)

  • Take projects from early-stage concepts through prototyping to production-ready internal systems


Internal Systems & Equipment Development



  • Design and build custom fixtures, tools, and equipment to optimize internal technical setups and workflows


Testing & Validation



  • Plan, execute, and evaluate mechanical tests for new and existing systems to ensure reliability, robustness, and operational suitability


Lab Setup & Enablement



  • Help establish and continuously improve the in-house lab environment as a development and prototyping space

  • Ensure machines, tools, and materials are available, functional, and fit for purpose


Manufacturing & Prototyping



  • Hands-on experience with a range of fabrication methods, including:



  • Resin 3D printing



  • FDM 3D printing



  • CNC milling



  • CNC laser cutting




Operational Readiness



  • Support technical preparation and execution of internal deployments, ensuring mechanical systems perform reliably under real operational conditions


Knowledge Sharing & Collaboration



  • Serve as a technical point of contact within the team

  • Share knowledge and support colleagues, contributing to a strong internal engineering culture


Requirements


Experience & Skills



  • Completed vocational training or degree in mechanical engineering, product design, construction, or a comparable field

  • Strong CAD skills (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Inventor, or similar)

  • Practical experience with additive and subtractive manufacturing methods

  • Structured, independent, and solution-oriented working style

  • Strong communication skills and enjoyment of cross-functional collaboration

  • Passion for prototyping, hardware development, and creating systems that are actually used


Languages



  • Fluent in German and English


Travel



  • Up to 10% travel, primarily national
