About this role

JOBSUMMARY:

 

This role focuses on conceptual design, ergonomics, aesthetics, and user experience for automotive components such as pedal systems, sensors, and electronic throttle controls. The ideal candidate will have strong design skills, an understanding of manufacturing feasibility, and the ability to translate user needs and brand identity into innovative product designs. Responsibilities include developing design concepts, creating CAD models for visualization, and collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, and styling teams to ensure functional and visually appealing solutions.  Fluency in German is required for this role.

 

JOBPROFILE:

EDUCATIONBACKGROUND:

University or College Engineering Degree, Technician and/or Technologist Diploma, or equivalent experience in Automotive Product Design

 

WORKEXPERIENCE:

3+ years of experience in product design, preferably in the automotive industry

LANGUAGE ABILITY:

English and German Required
Spanish, Czech, Mandarin, beneficial

COMPUTERSKILLS

( Indicate software and grades if required)

CAD software (Catia V5/V6 and/or NX CAD Software), TCE (Team Center Engineering) preferred, 2D drawing creation

TRAININGREQUIREMENTS, OTHER

 

PHYSICAL ABILITIES (lifting requirement, mobility, manual dexterity, vision and hearing, environmental factors)

Occasionally lift up to 25 lbs and perform tasks requiring prolonged periods of sitting, standing, or walking within an office and manufacturing environment.

KEYROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITY:

 

Duties/Responsibilities

 

  • Develop innovative design concepts for automotive pedal modules, sensors, and electronic throttle controls
  • Create CAD models, renderings, and prototypes to visualize and communicate design intent
  • Conduct ergonomic evaluations and usability testing to ensure user comfort and safety
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and styling teams to ensure designs meet functional and aesthetic goals
  • Packaging investigation: Review customer specifications for clearance and packaging requirements
  • Data exchange with customers and vendors; work with customer CAD teams to ensure completeness of submitted data
  • Assign and maintain EPA numbers on product development drawings (if applicable)
  • Revise 3D data and drawings per engineering changes and QA procedures
  • Check drawings for accuracy and completeness; perform tolerance stack-ups and interference checks
  • Work with prototype and testing teams on initial sample assembly to ensure design intent
  • Incorporate feedback from testing and resolve design issues
  • Exercise authority to control non-conforming product and report via Environmental Management System
  • Prepare design briefs, concept presentations, and mockups for stakeholder review
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging materials, and best practices in product design
  • Other duties as assigned
