Emergency Cases

Attend to all emergency cases promptly

Render all emergency aids and treatment immediately, especially in life threatening situations.

Resuscitate and stabilize patient’s condition where possible before admission to ward or sent for further investigation e.g.: X-ray, lab test and etc.

Referral Cases Hospital / KPJBP staff

Attend to all staff seeking treatment or medical attention.

Death on Arrival

Attend to and certify death for all patients brought in dead.

Consult to the relevant in-house consultant in case of any doubt.

Lodge a police report if cause of death is unexpected or due to suspicious circumstances or criminal act.

Out-patient Procedures

Perform simple procedures e.g. setting up drip. Insertion of urethral catheter, toilet and suturing etc unless otherwise instructed by the respective consultant or requested by the patient.

Do not perform non-urgent procedures if consultant has been called unless requested.

Lodge a police report if there is a suspicious of injuries due to criminal act e.g. firearms wound.

Assess of cold emergency cases and render first aid, stabilize patient and assist to regarding charges explain and refer / transfer out patient to other hospital if necessary.

If patient arrive dead, Medical Officer is to certify death.

Out-patient Investigations

Order appropriate investigations e.g. blood test, x-rays etc for admitting to ward or referring patient to consultant.

Consult the respective consultant if in doubt.

Document and record all investigation done and to inform and write note to the consultant concerned regarding all investigations done in case of referral.
