About this role

Koniag Management Solutions (KMS) is seeking an experienced and certified ServiceNow System Administrator to join our IT team and lead the design, development, and implementation of ServiceNow (SNOW) solutions that drive business value and operational excellence. This role will be responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and optimization of the ServiceNow platform to ensure system availability, performance, and security, while supporting business processes and user requirements across the organization. This individual will also serve as a lead / mentor for junior developers, and as a technical subject matter expert across the ServiceNow platform. This role is critical in ensuring the successful delivery of our ServiceNow initiatives while maintaining Agile best practices throughout the project lifecycle.


The System Administrator works closely with business stakeholders, IT leadership, and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions on the ServiceNow platform. This individual will lead platform administration & maintenance, configuration, customization, continuous improvement, and enable collaboration between development team and customer. Principal responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Configure, maintain, and support the ServiceNow platform and its modules (ITSM, ITOM, HR, CSM, etc.)
  • Perform system upgrades, patches, and release management activities
  • Monitor platform performance, capacity, and system health
  • Manage user access, roles, groups, and security permissions
  • Maintain system documentation, including configuration records and standard operating procedures
  • Design and implement workflows, business rules, UI policies, and client scripts
  • Create and maintain forms, views, reports, and dashboards
  • Configure notifications, email templates, and automated processes
  • Develop and maintain Service Catalog items and Record Producers
  • Maintain development, test, and production environments
  • Ensure compliance with IT policies, standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Perform system integrations between ServiceNow and third-party applications using REST, SOAP, and other integration methods
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior developers and team members
  • Support code reviews to ensure adherence to development standards and best practices
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues within the ServiceNow platform
  • Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications
  • Stay current with ServiceNow platform updates, new features, and industry best practices
  • Train end-users and create training materials
  • Support Agile development approach for feature and platform delivery
  • Support change management activities related to ServiceNow implementation
  • Identify opportunities for process automation and platform optimization

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience administering ServiceNow platform
  • Experience with at least 2 ServiceNow releases and upgrade cycles, having managed upgrades, migration, and or integration projects
  • Proven track record of developing in multiple ServiceNow modules (ITSM, ITAM, ITOM, ITBM/SPM, CSM, HR, or Security Operations)

Must hold at least the following certification: 

  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification
  • Strong knowledge of ServiceNow architecture, data model, and configuration
  • Proficiency with JavaScript, XML, HTML, and CSS
  • Experience with workflow design and automation
  • Knowledge of database concepts and SQL queries
  • Understanding of web services (REST/SOAP APIs)
  • Familiarity with SSO, LDAP, and authentication protocols
  • Extensive experience with ServiceNow development tools: Business Rules, Client Scripts, UI Policies, Script Includes, Workflows, Flow Designer
  • Understanding of ITIL processes and best practices
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum development methodologies
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven leadership, mentoring capabilities, attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Customer service orientation with focus on delivering business value
  • Ability to work effectively in both team and independent settings
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and delivery processes
  • Capability to adapt to changing requirements and project dynamics

Desired Skills and Competencies:

  • Possesses the following additional ServiceNow Certifications:
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD)
  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist in one or more areas
  • ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA) or working toward certification
  • Experience with ServiceNow Performance Analytics
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow Mobile platform
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
  • PowerShell, Python, or other scripting language proficiency
  • Version control systems experience (SNOW, Git, SVN)
  • Database knowledge and experience with relational databases
  • Experience leading technical teams or projects
  • Strong presentation and training skills
  • Business process improvement and optimization experience
  • Prior government consulting experience

 Work Environment: 

  • Office/Hybrid with remote work flexibility

Travel: 

  • Minimal travel required (less than 5%)
