Job Title: Production Supervisor   

Shift: Tuesday-Friday 5:30am-3:30pm

 

Job purpose

 

Our Production Supervisors are trusted to care for our most important asset, our team members.  They are looked to for team member growth and support, safety oversight, quality, delivery, inventory control and housekeeping.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Keep area of responsibility safe and ensure the safety of the team at all times. Ensure that any safety infractions based on previous inspections and knowledge are dealt with effectively.
  • Ensure that excellent quality is focused upon every day with every team member. Daily communication and continuous oversight of each employee will help ensure quality is maintained.
  • Be a “Developer of People”- Continually look for opportunities to conduct cross-training within the department and to develop your team members.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in assigned work area to help support safe, high-quality processes.
  • Make sure that accurate inventories are maintained through proper relieving of raw materials and labor recording of completed jobs.
  • Maintain scheduled product completion and ship dates by keeping product flowing throughout the production process.
  • Recognize resource needs in advance to ensure production lines are self-sufficient. Resource needs can come in many forms including people, machinery and special tooling.
  • Promptly deal with team member issues including personnel, scheduling and time card deficiencies.
  • Continually observe area of responsibility for better methods to reduce non-value added waste.
  • Drive a positive atmosphere by promoting family and a “whatever it takes” attitude.

 

Qualifications

 

Education

  • High school diploma or GED preferred; not required; Some college preferred. 

 

Specialized Knowledge and Experience

  • Requires experience with and functional knowledge of Microsoft Office products, primarily Excel and Outlook.
  • Minimum of one year supervisory experience, potentially through team lead role.
  • Must have strong computer skills and with the ability to utilize computer programs to retrieve safety information, approve time cards, manage team performance and obtain work processes, bills of material, prints, etc.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles is preferred.

  • Must be able to interact professionally, appropriately, and courteously with customers, co-workers and other outside parties.

  • Shows concern for quality and practices continuous improvement;
  • Must be dependable, flexible and willing to jump in and help wherever needed to support the business.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; crouch and kneel; and must be able to talk and hear.  The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.

 

Must observe safety procedures and use equipment and materials properly; must wear safety glasses and steel toe boots.
