The Maître D’ at Paws Up Montana serves as the gracious ambassador of the dining experience, setting the tone for exceptional service from the moment guests arrive. This role is responsible for overseeing front-of-house operations, ensuring seamless service flow, and delivering the refined, personalized hospitality that defines Paws Up. The Maître D’ works closely with culinary and service teams to curate memorable dining experiences reflective of Paws Up’s luxury ranch setting and world-class standards.

Primary Functions and Responsibilities 

 

  • Warmly greet and welcome guests, establishing a positive and lasting first impression aligned with Paws Up’s commitment to elevated, personalized service.
  • Assess guest preferences, special occasions, and expectations to tailor seating and service accordingly.
  • Manage reservations and maintain accurate, strategic seating chart to optimize service flow and guest comfort.
  • Coordinate closely with the kitchen and service teams to ensure smooth pacing and exceptional execution throughout service.
  • Oversee front-of-house staff, including hosts and servers, providing leadership, coaching, and real-time guidance.
  • Support training initiatives to uphold luxury service standards and reinforce brand consistency.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for special requests, dietary restrictions, and VIP accommodations.
  • Maintain clear, professional communication between guests, culinary staff, and service teams.
  • Monitor the overall atmosphere to maintain a relaxed, welcoming, and elevated dining environment.
  • Address guest concerns promptly, discreetly, and professionally, turning challenges into opportunities to exceed expectations.
  • Empower staff to deliver thoughtful solutions while maintaining composure and hospitality excellence.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of menus, wine lists, and seasonal offerings to provide informed recommendations and enhance the guest experience.
  • Collaborate with culinary and beverage leadership to stay current on menu changes and special features.
  • Manage operations and ensure compliance with all Food & Beverage policies, sanitation, food standards and procedures
  • Maintain flexible hours to accommodate guest and special event needs, due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry; Position requires full availability including evenings, weekends, holidays or as needed

  • Ambiance Maintenance: Ensure dining spaces are impeccably clean, organized, and visually appealing, reflecting the refined, traditional elegance of Paws Up.

 

Educational, Experience, Licensure Required 

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or similar work experience/training 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Maître ’ or comparable role within fine dining, luxury resort, or upscale hospitality environments.
  • Knowledge of beer, wine, spirits & cocktails
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team
  • Valid State Driver’s License
