Kmart Australia’s Merchandise and Supply Chain technology group is responsible for bringing products that delight our customers from across the globe.  A team of more than 200 technology professionals, they are responsible for building, managing, supporting, and improving some of the most sophisticated Merchandise, Inventory, Product Sourcing and Supply Chain retail technology in Australia, New Zealand and globally.

 

Our Inventory Engineering team will build and manage solutions that greatly expand our capabilities, allowing us to better manage our products and their availability, to create a more seamless shopping experience for our customers and staff.  Be a part of the digital transformation that is revolutionising the way we operate and serve our customers. 


What you’ll be doing:

 

  • Designing, building, and taking ownership of cutting-edge enterprise-scale Inventory Management solutions across multiple functional domains.
  • Contributing to the full software development lifecycle, spanning from cloud infrastructure and microservice APIs to integration layers between specialised retail management systems.
  • Transform batch-based legacy applications into contemporary, real-time, service-based architectures.
  • Utilise your expertise in cloud infrastructure, with a preference for AWS, to deploy and monitor your code seamlessly.
  • Harness the power of industry-leading SaaS products to enhance your development, deployment, and monitoring processes.
  • Play a key role as a Senior member of a supportive team of engineers dedicated to mutual growth.  Mentor other engineers and contribute to the team's success, while continually expanding your own capabilities.


To be successful in this role you’ll have:

 

  • Significant demonstrable experience in application programming, and expert knowledge of C#, including mastery of tools, frameworks, and software patterns.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience working with large, complex SQL databases.
  • A growth mindset and passion for developing your capabilities as a Senior Software Engineer.
  • Cloud infrastructure expertise, preferably in AWS.
  • Experience in building web-based front-ends, with a preference for Blazor or React (or similar JS frameworks).
  • Knowledge of continuous integration, infrastructure as code, and automated testing practices.
  • An Engineering mindset – seeking elegant, but practical solutions to problems.
