Job Summary
- Provides continuous surveillance of cardiac telemetry monitors to identify and report significant changes in cardiac rhythms. Supports patient safety and clinical communication in centralized monitoring environments.
Essential Functions
- Continuously observe and interpret cardiac rhythms from telemetry monitors
- Record rhythm strips at designated intervals and notify nursing staff of changes
- Maintain monitor station cleanliness and function; report equipment issues
- Document rhythm interpretations and maintain accurate logbooks
- Communicate clearly and promptly with unit nursing staff
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations
- Ability to interpret dysrhythmias accurately
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Able to multitask and respond calmly in emergencies
- Proficient in EMR systems and basic computer functions
Education
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
Licenses/Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire
Experience
- No prior experience required
- Completion of orientation and dysrhythmia interpretation competency is required
