About the Position
The company is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead and oversee all operational, financial, and strategic aspects of the organization. Reporting to executive leadership/ownership, the General Manager will have full P&L responsibility and will play a critical role in driving growth, operational excellence, and team development.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for a proven heavy civil executive with deep asphalt paving experience who can balance day-to-day execution with long-term strategy. The role requires strong leadership across operations, estimating, project management, safety, and business development within the Southern California market.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Full responsibility for company performance, including P&L, operations, and strategic planning
- Leadership and development of project management, operations, estimating, and field teams
- Oversight of asphalt paving projects ranging from $1M–$20M
- Driving operational efficiency, schedule adherence, quality, and safety performance
- Managing relationships with public agencies, private clients, vendors, and subcontractors
- Supporting business development efforts and maintaining backlog health
- Ensuring compliance with all safety, regulatory, and contractual requirements
Requirements
- Experience:
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in heavy civil and/or asphalt paving construction
- Prior experience in a senior leadership role (General Manager, Operations Manager, Senior Project Executive, or similar) strongly preferred
- Education:
- Degree negotiable; ideal background in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Project Experience:
- Asphalt paving projects
- Typical project sizes ranging from $1M–$20M
- Strong preference for experience in Southern California markets
- Position is based in Los Angeles, CA
