Compensation and Benefits:
- Compensation: Starting wage $20.50 - $21.32, adjusted based on experience
- Benefits: Seasonal position eligible for a season pass for employee/dependents and privileges at several other resorts. Several discount programs (i.e. food & beverage, retail/rental, tickets, etc.) also available.
Job Summary:
The Lift Maintenance Apprentice is an entry level position for somebody interested in making lift maintenance a career. The primary responsibility is assisting the lift technicians in both preventative and unscheduled maintenance. This is a challenging position in an outside environment that typically includes the use of snowmobiles and ATV’s, climbing ski lift towers and servicing on-mountain lift infrastructure in all weather conditions. This is an FT-Seasonal position and future employment will be evaluated at the end of each season.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Assist in maintaining all lift equipment to ensure safe operation as per in-house SOP’s and ANSI B77.1 Passenger Tramway Code
- Assist in diagnosing, repairing, and performing maintenance on all ski lift systems and equipment efficiently and effectively
- Attend all necessary training pertaining to the job, including the Vermont Tramway Apprenticeship program as directed by the Lift Maintenance Manager
- Maintain all required record keeping and maintenance logs accurately and in a timely manner
- Maintain tools, equipment, and shop work areas
- Promote and adhere to all safety requirements as set forth by in-house SOP’s and OSHA
- Ability to demonstrate effective time management and organizational skills
- Always provide superior service to our customers. Follow the Resort Etiquette Guidelines while interacting with the guests and respond to all guests in a courteous, efficient manner
- Perform the role of a Lift Maintenance Technician in a coverage role as necessary
- Perform other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma preferred
- Basic understanding of ski lift operations and controls
- Must be able to lift 50lbs. frequently and up to 100lbs. occasionally
- Must be able to bend, squat, climb, twist, and reach above shoulder level frequently
- Must be able to use hands for grasping, pushing/pulling, and fine manipulation in repair of machinery
- Ability to climb and work at heights of up to 100 feet demonstrating proper climbing techniques with fall protection equipment
- Comfortable working in extreme mountain weather conditions for extended periods
- Basic computer skills for maintenance documentation, time tracking and interdepartmental communication
- Ability to commit to working weekends and holidays
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Prior lift operations experience preferred
- Strong interpersonal communication and guest service skills
- Ability to operate a snowmobile, ATV, UTV and truck safely
- Be punctual and dependable, pay attention to detail and use good judgement
- Basic understanding of mechanical tool use, including power and hand tools
- Ability to adapt to changing conditions and work assignments
- Ability to adapt quickly to an ever-changing environment
