About the Team

You will join the Keysight Technology Organization, where we develop the next generation of high-performance measurement instruments used in advanced wireless, aerospace, automotive, and semiconductor applications.

Our team designs cutting-edge millimeter-wave ICs that enable breakthrough performance in frequency ranges up to and beyond 100 GHz. Working in close collaboration with subsystem teams across Germany and globally, we combine deep RF expertise with advanced semiconductor technologies to push the limits of high-frequency measurement systems.

About the Role

As an MMIC Design Engineer, you will design, develop, and validate millimeter-wave integrated circuits for future Keysight instrumentation platforms.

You will work across the full development cycle — from specification definition and schematic design to layout, verification, and lab characterization — ensuring best-in-class RF performance in advanced semiconductor technologies.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical ownership, collaboration across disciplines, and a passion for solving complex high-frequency design challenges.

Responsibilities

MMIC Design & Development

  • Design and validate millimeter-wave ICs (30 GHz up to and beyond 100 GHz).

  • Develop high-performance RF blocks such as amplifiers, mixers, multipliers, or similar circuits.

  • Translate system-level requirements into optimized IC architectures.

  • Perform schematic design, layout supervision, EM verification, and design sign-off.

Technology & Process Integration

  • Work with internal semiconductor technologies and external global foundries.

  • Evaluate trade-offs between performance, manufacturability, and reliability.

  • Support process matching and performance optimization.

Characterization & Validation

  • Execute on-wafer and packaged measurements.

  • Perform RF characterization, wafer probing, and calibration.

  • Analyze measurement data and correlate with simulation results.

Collaboration

  • Interface with system, packaging, modeling, and test teams.

  • Document results and present findings to internal stakeholders.

  • Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (or related field), with focus on RF/mmWave IC design.

  • Minimum 3+ years of industrial experience in mmWave IC design (30 GHz+).

  • Proven experience across schematic design, layout, EM simulation, verification, and measurement validation.

  • Hands-on design experience in at least one high-frequency building block (e.g., LNA, PA, mixer, multiplier, frequency converter).

  • Proficiency with industry tools such as ADS, Momentum, EMPro, SystemVue or comparable RF design environments.

  • Experience with advanced semiconductor technologies (e.g., SiGe, GaAs, GaN, CMOS).

Desired Qualifications

    • Experience above 100 GHz design.

    • Knowledge of device modeling, thermal effects, or IC packaging.

    • Experience with wafer probe calibration and RF measurement setups.

    • Understanding of PCB integration for high-frequency modules.

    • Strong analytical problem-solving mindset.

    • Ability to work independently in cross-functional, international teams.
