About the role

The Maintenance & Engineering Manager for the Harrisonburg, VA site will be instrumental in fostering an environment focused on enhancing efficiency, project management, and driving KPI performance. The individual will work closely with both leadership and maintenance technicians to implement proven process improvement methodologies. The goal is to integrate a continuous improvement mindset into the fabric of everyday, ensuring long-term, measurable success. By coaching employees at all levels, this role aims to develop the necessary skills for sustained operational excellence. This role requires someone with a robust background in project management, process improvement, equipment reliability, and excellent communication skills to influence change at every level of the organization.

Key responsibilities

•  Ensure all engineering related works align with corporate engineering standards including sanitary design, ergonomics, employee safety and food safety requirements

•  Ensure that all systems are maintained, reliable and running efficiently

•  Manage maintenance department costs within transformation and site budgets

•  Responsible for working with Asset life cycle management and planned maintenance

•  Provide leadership in implementing / maintaining preventive and predictive maintenance programs

•  Perform follow-up analysis to identify and resolve recurring downtime / inefficient operational issues

•  Provide technical guidance, efficient troubleshooting / problem solving activities and maintenance repair to maximize efficiencies and limit downtime

•  Continuously apply sound mechanical and electrical solutions to resolve obstacles to plant efficiencies and to drive continuous improvement

•  Ensure that appropriate inventory levels for standard replacement parts are maintained

Qualifications and skills

  5+ years engineering and maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment working on improving efficiencies and/or continuous improvement preferable in the food & beverage industry.

•  Degree in engineering and equivalent experience.

•  An understanding of energy, steam, air, refrigeration and/or water system designs.

•  Strong analytical skills with the ability to determine actionable projects that achieve results.

 

The pay range for this position is $107,757 - $181,563 in Annual Salary.  Kerry typically does not hire an individual at the top or near the top of the range, as we are a pay-for-performance company, and this range is set to continue to reward performance annually while in role.  Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.  The specific compensation offered to a candidate within the above range may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience, and internal equity.  In addition, this position is also eligible to earn a performance-based incentive compensation.  Kerry offers a competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, Employee Share Plan, Life, disability, and accident insurance, and tuition reimbursement.  This job posting is anticipated to expire on 2/20/2026.
