About this role

Position:  Peer Support Specialist - Substance Use Disorder program

Company/Location:  Kentucky River Community Care/Perry Outpatient Substance Use Disorder program

Employment type:  Regular Full-Time

Credentials:  High School diploma or GED.  One (1) year sustained recovery from a mental health or substance use disorder.

Special skills/knowledge:  Ability to operate basic office and electronic devises and their related software.

Primary functions:

  • Serve as an active member of the client’s treatment team, including participation in team meetings and treatment planning meetings.
  • Implement and coordinate recovery plans for individual clients in assigned population group, including evaluation, consultation, education, and follow-up services.
  • Serve as role model for clients by sharing own recovery process and teaching effective coping techniques and self-help strategies.
  • Provide advocacy services on behalf of clients.
  • Inform supervisor and other members of treatment team, as indicated, of issues/concerns related to individual clients.
