Compensation: $17.24 - $22.86. The final job offer is based on several factors (internal equity, skills, education, experience, and credentials).

We are seeking an Engagement Specialist

 

If assigned to Substance Use Engagement Center, where individuals who are actively intoxicated and/or individuals who have recently used alcohol or other drugs can safely recover from acute intoxication, will engage with the individuals accessing the center, performing needs assessments, completing recovery plans, and referring to appropriate services. The SUD Engagement Center will provide alternatives to jail, emergency departments, and other emergent behavioral health services. This service will not provide long-term (more than 23 hours) housing, medical detoxification, psychiatry, or residential substance abuse treatment, however linking and coordination with these types of community resources will be provided. Additional resources provided will include access to showers and hygiene products, food, and clothing.

 

 

If assigned to other areas of Mel Trotter, ensure individuals understand their care, assisting them with medical follow through, building rapport and following up after appointments to encourage honest/accurate communication and reporting of symptoms/problems to the medical team. Determine which individuals may need to be directed to behavioral health screening and assisting them in access. Assist individuals towards harm reduction, wellness, and readiness for treatment.

 

When working as part of the community‑based program, engagement specialists will collaborate with partner programs such as Catherine’s Health Center, Homeless Outreach, Mobile Crisis Response, GRPD Co‑response, and Mel Trotter Ministries. These programs will refer individuals to peer recovery services, and engagement specialists will respond directly in the community to support those referrals..

 

This position is full-time, Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm This assignment is in-person at Mel-Trotter and Network180 sites. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS  

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Certified Peer Recovery Mentor or willingness to create a plan to obtain State Certification as a Peer Recovery Mentor within two years of employment.
  • In stable recovery.
  • Actively participating in a recovery program (12 step, church/spiritual, or other recovery support group).
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for job related use.
  • Knowledge about substance use disorders as it pertains to recovery and crisis planning.
  • Work effectively in a multicultural environment and skills and capabilities of bridging language/cultural barriers to Network180 services within diverse communities.
  • Lived experiences with mental illness/developmental disabilities/substance use disorders valued.
    • Basic computer skills.
    • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Good problem-solving skills.
