About this role
KEITH is seeking a SUE Tech III - Subsurface Utility Engineering Field Designator III in our West Palm Beach, FL office. This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual who likes to work outdoors, work with minimal supervision and who is looking for career opportunities.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Select and apply appropriate geophysical prospecting equipment (i.e. pipe and cable locators, GPR) to accurately designate complex underground utility layouts;
- Oversee the operation of vacuum trucks, related air tools and equipment such as a jackhammer, pogo-tamper, concrete saw, compressor, blower, vacuum hose, air lance, and hand tools;
- Comprehends and interprets utility and highway design plans and record drawings;
- Coordinates and oversees the effective maintenance of vehicles, work sites and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion;
- Supervise S.U.E. technician I, II and III associates in all daily crew activities.
- Perform “one-call” and “call before you dig” notifications, communicating and coordinating with utility company representatives;
- Represents and communicates on behalf of KEITH and crew when encountering third parties in the field;
- Coordinates survey activities in connection with S.U.E. work;
- Train and mentor crew members.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- OHSA Safety certifications are a plus.
- DOT physical drive card and DOT Medical Card or the ability to obtain.
- Ability to perform physical movements and tractions, commensurate with operating heavy tools and equipment.
- Highly skilled in geophysical prospecting for underground utilities including use of multi-frequency equipment.
- Minimum 5+ years in successful application of geophysical equipment in utility locating such as for a contract utility locating firm or a major utility company.
- Pneumatic Vac truck experience preferred.
- Ability to work in all climates.
- Basic understanding of Highway/Utility plans
- Ability to travel if needed.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
