Role Summary:

The Transportation Operations Manager is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the company’s
transportation operations, including scheduling, maintenance, safety, and logistical coordination across all transportation partners. This position provides strategic direction and operational oversight to ensure efficient, safe, and value aligned transportation services. The Transportation Operations Manager works closely with driver guides, dock staff and partner organizations such as Taquan Air and Kawanti Adventures and
maintains alignment with company goals and values.



Key Outcomes:

  • Motivate, lead, communicate and further develop a high-performance team through the promotion and application of Vision, Mission, and Values to staff, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Develop transportation and dock operations procedures including scheduling, maintenance, and safety.
  • Ensure transportation logistics are aligned as they relate to Taquan Air, Kawanti Adventures, and independent transportation.
  • Coordinate communication with dock staff, driver guides, and tour sites.
  • Assist with hiring and training of driver guides
    and dock staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Success depends on the ability to design and manage transportation operations, including scheduling, maintenance, and safety, while ensuring seamless logistical alignment with Taquan Air, Kawanti Adventures, and independent providers. Effective coordination with dock operations, driver‑guides, and tour sites is essential, along with the flexibility to support the Dock Operations Supervisor as needed. Competence in hiring, training, and guiding transportation staff further strengthens operational reliability and overall team performance.

  • Communication across dock operations, driver‑guides, and tour sites is timely, accurate, and collaborative.
  • Hiring and training processes produce confident, capable driver‑guides who contribute to strong operational performance.
  • Additional assigned duties are handled with flexibility, professionalism, and a solutions‑focused mindset.
  • Demonstrates alignment with company values through leadership behaviors and decision-making.
  • 100% compliance with internal safety policies and DOT regulations.

 

Requisite Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Effectively interact and communicate with peers, managers, and other Department employees.
  • Independently manage work and schedule to meet all deadlines and expectations.
  • Skilled problem solving, ability to identify solutions, and execute standard relevant processes.
  • Work effectively in a team environment, collaborating across work segments and departments with diverse personalities and requirements.
  • Reliable and timely attendance, flexibility to work early mornings and evenings, or weekend days, when workloads require. 
  • Recognize opportunities to contribute and collaborate with other areas and departments when individual workloads are light.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and systems such as FareHarbor and Swell.
  • Conduct oneself with the highest level of integrity and confidentiality.


Physical Demands and Requirements:

  • Mobility across the site.
  • Ability to handle stress and pressure created by simultaneous demands.
  • Ability to work on-site, indoors and outdoors, with exposure to noise, heat and cold.
  • Ability to frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
  • Ability to work with members of the public, requiring appropriate appearance and attire.

Experience/Education Requirements:
