Your role in our team

As a Team Lead, the Senior Controls Engineer will guide the team to develop control system designs, deploy and commission PLC code, and create graphical user interfaces for material handling systems. They will collaborate with various internal and external teams to develop recommendations for productivity improvement and cost reduction. This role combines technical expertise with leadership skills to drive the success of the control systems projects and the team's overall performance.

  • You will develop control system designs, develop, deploy, & commission Programmable Logic Controller code, and develop graphical user interfaces for material handling systems
  • You will test and emulate code functionality before on-site deployment and testing
  • You will troubleshoot PLC code and electrical equipment functionality on-site during commissioning and testing activities
  • You will collaborate with Electrical Engineering resources to support control network architecture requirements and design
  • You will define electrical device requirements for system control
  • You will support estimates for complex module development and system commissioning requirements
  • You will perform reviews of complex customer standards, specifications, and other documentation to determine system requirements
  • You will develop recommendations for ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction, and improvement in customer satisfaction
  • You will complete the software quality process through the execution of complex module, subsystem, and system test procedures
  • You can travel up to 60% of the year, working short-duration assignments up to and including multiple 10/4 rotations, depending on the project requirements

 

Your profile

  • You have obtained a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field
  • You have gained seven (7) years of work experience in the material handling industry or a similar industry required; a master’s degree may be considered in lieu of experience, in which at least 5 years of work experience is required
  • You have experience with Rockwell Automation PLC programming, including GuardLogix and Siemens TIA Portal PLC programming, including Starter
  • You have experience with Ethernet/IP network architecture
  • You have experience interpreting electrical schematic drawings and understanding HMI programming
  • You have proven experience leading teams of controls engineers in large, complex material handling projects
  • You have experience setting staffing schedules and adhering to project timelines and budgets
  • You have experience with Industrial machine control development and troubleshooting, preferred
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven interpersonal and customer service skills
  • You have proven supervisory and leadership skills
  • You can function well in a fast-paced environment and deliver results to meet timelines

This full-time, exempt position offers a hybrid work schedule—three days in-office—for candidates based in the preferred location of Dallas–Fort Worth, TX. Candidates in all other locations will work remotely.
