Location: London- hybrid

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full time- 35 hours

Purpose of role

As the Compliance Associate you will work within the Group Compliance function to provide 2nd line support to the Just organisation, with a primary focus on Financial crime mitigation activities.

You will work independently or collaboratively with other Group Risk and Compliance colleagues to develop and deliver analytics capabilities required for a variety of initiatives. Initially, the focus will be on learning, owning and developing/refining the existing analytics (data and voice) capabilities already present in the Compliance team to support Financial crime mitigation activities. You will be expected to understand, learn and deliver end to end investigations, as well as assisting in the investigations of suspicious activity reports raised by the business.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out Financial Crime investigations, independently or under guidance, ensuring they are completed with appropriate diligence, and appropriate records are maintained.

  • Provide a high level of service, ownership of cases and demonstrate dedication to ensure good outcomes for customers and risk mitigation for Just.

  • Ensure internal disclosures are reviewed by the MLRO, Head of Compliance Monitoring & Financial Crime Investigations or authorised person; and that investigations and decisions are securely recorded and reports made to the appropriate external agencies.

  • To provide support in reviewing the effectiveness of systems and controls in respect of financial crime, and recommend changes where appropriate.

  • Ensure established processes are followed and adequate recording of activity is undertaken maintained to ensure traceability.

  • Proactively build effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders such as Operational areas, Risk and Compliance colleagues and Senior Management in relation to risk identification and mitigation.

  • Maintain up to date knowledge of emerging or changing regulations, and proactively take steps to comply and ensure awareness within the team and amongst relevant stakeholders.

  • Be proactive in learning and developing knowledge and skills required to perform the role, in particular to achieve higher level of proficiency in tools such as MS-Excel and a working knowledge in analytics tools such as Power BI.

  • Demonstrate the ability to adapt and work with team members of various experience levels.

What we’re looking for:

  • Prior financial crime risk mitigation experience, case reviews

  • Good awareness of MS-Excel features and analysis capabilities

  • Awareness of Analytics tools such as Power BI

  • Business Report writing experience

  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical and organisational skills

  • Excellent communication skills – both oral and written

  • Possessing an attention to detail with a focused commitment to achieving quality

  • Logical, systematic, adaptable and a self-starter, with the ability to research and gather facts, working to clear guidelines and company standards

  • Good level of IT literacy, including Microsoft Office packages, specifically a good level of proficiency in MS-Excel. Desire to learn and achieve a higher level of proficiency in Excel and to proactively learn analytics tools by own initiative.

  • Ability to multi-task, including supporting team members on relevant work.
