About This Role

As a Tech Lead,  you will lead our engineering team in growing and scaling a high-performance mobile dating app! In this role, you’ll split your time (70/30) between writing clean, precise code and mentoring a globally distributed team of engineers. You will drive system design and create app features that feel fresh to Gen Z. This role is the bridge between execution and vision - steering technical decisions, managing developers, and helping us scale with intention!

What You’ll Do:

• Design, architect, and implement core backend systems while owning the supporting infrastructure to ensure a scalable and reliable platform. 
• Write production-grade code daily while setting the technical quality bar for the entire engineering team.
• Own system architecture decisions, including performance, scalability, reliability, observability, and cost-efficiency.
• Lead complex technical initiatives end-to-end—from initial design docs to rollout, monitoring, and iteration.
• Mentor and develop engineers, providing technical guidance, pairing, and code reviews that level up the team.
• Partner with product, design, and marketing teams to deliver features that resonate with a Gen Z audience
• Collaborate with nectar Product and Business Development teams on the launch of nectar monetization, including in-app purchases and subscription models

Who You Are:

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, 2+ years in a tech lead or similar roles
• Expertise in Node, Typescript, Postgres, GraphQL, and AWS (or similar)
• Proven experience guiding engineering teams and delivering scalable, high-performance systems
• Experience in supporting user growth and maintaining high user retention for mobile applications (dating app experience a plus!)
• Experience in shipping iOS and Android mobile apps and supporting them

• Experience in troubleshooting front end, backend, database, and infrastructure with modern tools

• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills

Nice To Have:

• Experience in React Native and/or front end mobile development
• Experience in modern AI tools and practices
• Experience in security and compliance for consumer applications
• Familiarity with data science and data engineering

Work Model

At Jubilee, we follow a hybrid work model — We’re in the El Segundo office 3 days a week and remote for 2. So, you’ll need to be local or ready to make the move!
