To strengthen our Tobacco Product Development Center in Trier, we are looking for a Product Development Trainee (m/f/d).

 

Your job mission:

This three-year training program is designed to build up your competence and to prepare you for future career opportunities in the Tobacco Product Development Center (TPDC). As part of a structured program, you will gain in-depth expertise in all technical aspects of tobacco and product development. You will also develop a comprehensive understanding of the tobacco industry’s needs, strategies and essential key drivers. From day one, you will take on meaningful responsibilities in daily operations and special projects. The program includes personal development and functional training opportunities.

Your tasks:

  • Participate in specialized training to develop comprehensive expertise in tobaccos, non-tobacco materials, casing & flavor, product components/design and processing
  • Build capabilities to perform sensory evaluation of tobaccos and tobacco products in a systematic approach
  • Engage in on-the-job training across relevant departments to understand the tobacco business and technical aspects of product development
  • Support product development projects by contributing to the development of new tobacco products, as well as to the modification and maintenance of existing products
  • Learn to create and manage product specifications, aligned with brands, markets, regulatory and corporate requirements and policies 
  • Assist with other ad hoc operational tasks

 

Your profile:

  • Relevant educational background: University degree in Natural Sciences, Food Technology, Agronomy or a related field
  • Practical experience: Initial scientific work experience, preferably in an FMCG environment, e.g. food, agricultural or tobacco industry
  • Valuable knowledge: High interest in scientific fields and with a strong aptitude for technical matters / High interest in actively participating in sensory evaluation of tobacco and tobacco products / Solid analytical skills, familiar with statistical methods / Fluent in English, both written and spoken; additional languages are a plus / Proficient in MS Office and SAP
  • Special strengths: Ability to work effectively in an international environment / Excellent communication and presentation skills / Sensory evaluation capabilities for tobacco and other products
  • Suitable personality: Positive, confident and proactive attitude / Open-minded, adaptable and eager to learn / Willingness to travel
  • Practiced working time model: Flextime
