About this role

Drive the vision for data-driven products—your strategic mindset and technical acumen will turn ideas into impactful solutions that shape the future.

The Chief Data & Analytics Office (CDAO) at JPMorgan Chase is responsible for accelerating the firm’s data and analytics journey. This includes ensuring the quality, integrity, and security of the company's data, as well as leveraging this data to generate insights and drive decision-making. The CDAO is also responsible for developing and implementing solutions that support the firm’s commercial goals by harnessing artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies to develop new products, improve productivity, and enhance risk management effectively and responsibly.

As a Data Owner Director on the CDAO Data Management Team, you’ll be the senior leader driving transformational change by shaping and executing the strategic vision for data initiatives that power business operations, strategic objectives, and advanced analytics. In this highly dynamic environment, you will not only develop innovative solutions and lead strategic initiatives, but also play a hands-on role in building and implementing these solutions from the ground up—often where little existing framework exists. You will consult directly with senior stakeholders, provide expert guidance, and actively engage in the work required to turn vision into reality. By fostering strong cross-functional partnerships and overseeing critical data projects, you will transform data into a strategic asset that fuels innovation and growth across the organization. Your leadership and direct involvement will ensure data-driven insights are at the forefront of decision-making, enhancing the company's competitive edge and supporting a culture of continuous transformation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic thought leadership and hands-on expertise in developing, building, and delivering data solutions that support business operations, strategic objectives, and advanced analytics in a transformational environment.
  • Collaborate with product owners, business process owners, and analytics leads to identify, define, and prioritize critical data needs, ensuring effective governance, integration, and utilization across the business.
  • Consult with senior stakeholders to understand business challenges, develop tailored data strategies, and actively participate in the implementation of solutions.
  • Support the aligned Data & Analytics lead for their product by identifying data required to be integrated into analytics platforms to support projects such as analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with stakeholders to enhance data understanding and quality across business areas and functions.
  • Direct the creation and implementation of processes to identify, monitor, and mitigate data risks, including protection, retention, storage, use, and quality.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, working with multiple stakeholders to drive a strong understanding and effective use of data across business areas.
  • Prioritize resources to deliver strategic objectives and resolve identified data issues in a timely and consistent manner that maintains data consumer trust.
  • Oversee and actively participate in data strategy initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals, and collaborate with senior leadership to prioritize and execute critical projects.
  • Manage and mentor staff, both direct and matrixed; effectively drive teams toward a set of execution milestones.
  • Lead data governance and risk management efforts, providing subject matter expertise and driving collaboration across functions.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field, OR equivalent professional experience in data management, data governance, or a related field.
  • 10 years experience in data management, data governance, risk management/analytics, or a related field, with a proven leadership track record.
  • Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on, building solutions and frameworks where few may exist.
  • Deep understanding of data management principles, governance frameworks, and lifecycle management, including data protection, data quality, and data classification.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, translating complex data concepts into actionable strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills, effectively conveying complex data concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders with poise and confidence.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and manage large-scale projects.
  • Proven leader and influencer with the ability to think on their feet and drive transformational change.
  • Ability to lead and mentor cross-functional teams, with strong strategic thinking, decision-making, and hands-on implementation skills.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Information Management Professional (CIMP), Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), or similar.
  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Familiarity with advanced analytics, machine learning, or AI in business.
  • Understanding of Hadoop or Public Cloud technologies.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools, such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
