The John Rutledge House Inn is an important historical landmark and a luxurious bed and breakfast in the heart of Charleston. We are looking for a Full Time or Part Time bellman to join our team. From a cheerful greeting as guests arrive at the hotel to a sincere thank you at departure, the ideal John Rutledge House bell staff helps to create a seamless five-start experience for guests throughout their stay. Bell staff duties include some hotel upkeep in addition to guest service.

Hours are approximately 10:00am - 6:00pm. Must be able to work weekends and occasional holidays. Full-time or part-time position available.

Responsibilities:

• Greet each guest as they arrive at the hotel.
• Assist arriving and departing guests with their luggage.
• Acquaint guests with the property and room amenities.
• Converse with guests about local restaurants and attractions when asked.
• Deliver room amenities.
• Set up and assist with evening tea service.
• Assist with hotel upkeep including maintaining cleanliness of hotel kitchen and parking lot and distributing laundry.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

• Must have a congenial personality and be dedicated to providing outstanding guest service.
• Reliability and punctuality are a must.
• Able to climb multiple flights of stairs - the property does not have an elevator.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Able to bend, stoop, and stand for up to 5 hours per shift.
• Sharp eye for detail
• Must have flexible scheduling availability and be able to work weekends and occasional holidays.
• Previous hotel experience preferred.
