Your Responsibilities

 

As a Foundry Engineer for JD Waterloo Works located in Waterloo, IA, you will:

 

  • Research, test, and implement new materials and processes to enhance casting cost efficiency and quality.
  • Conduct special process audits of casting suppliers to ensure adherence to standards.
  • Assist supply management and design teams with casting failure analysis requests through the Casting Center of Excellence.
  • Design, refine, and deliver training programs for casting buyers, foundry employees, and casting designers.
  • Collaborate with University Metal Casting Programs to stay connected with research and contribute to curriculum development.

What Skills You Need

 

  • 5 or more years of experience in Process Control Monitoring & Improvement
  • 3 or more years of experience with the materials and processes used in, Green Sand Mold Making, Cold Box Core Making, Shot Blast Cleaning
  • 3 or more years of experience with the materials and processes used in a Coreless Induction, Cupola, or Arc melting process.
  • 3 or more years of experience performing Casting Defect Analysis
  • Strong analytic skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to understand multiple, complex requests and negotiate a mutually beneficial plan in a very dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor other members on team in areas of expertise

Education

 

Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Metal Casting, Metallurgy, or Materials Engineering
