Overview

We are seeking an experienced Facilities Technician with a strong focus on HVAC systems to support daily operations and maintenance of our San Carlos site, as well as provide support at additional company locations as needed. This is a hands-on role for a skilled professional who can independently troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC and building systems in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on commercial HVAC systems, including RTUs, VAVs, AHUs, exhaust systems, chillers, boilers, and split systems
  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues
  • Monitor building systems to ensure efficiency, safety, and occupant comfort
  • Respond to work orders and service requests in a timely manner
  • Perform general facilities maintenance (lighting, doors, ceilings, minor carpentry and plumbing)
  • Maintain accurate records in the CMMS, including work orders and preventive maintenance logs
  • Coordinate and oversee vendors and contractors
  • Support inspections, audits, and compliance with safety and regulatory requirements
  • Travel to other company sites as needed to provide facilities and HVAC support
  • Participate in an on-call rotation as required

Required

  • 4-6 years of experience as a Building Engineer, Facilities Engineer, or HVAC Technician
  • Strong hands-on experience with commercial HVAC systems
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (required for travel between sites)
  • Solid knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation
  • Experience using CMMS systems
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders, rooftops, and in confined spaces
  • Flexibility to adjust schedule as needed, including occasional weekends

Desired

  • EPA Universal Certification
  • HVAC trade school or technical certification
  • Experience supporting commercial office, lab, or industrial facilities
  • Familiarity with BAS/BMS systems (Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, etc.)
  • Additional HVAC or energy management certifications

Additional Information

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $37-$42/hr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
