Job Description

The Senior Agronomy Coordinator will provide strategic and operational leadership to agronomy programs within the Kenyacof supply chain, acting as a key technical liaison between coffee estates, cooperatives and sustainability partners. The role is responsible for driving productivity, quality, compliance, and regenerative agriculture adoption across large coffee estates and smallholder supply chains.

Coffee Agronomy and Regenerative Agriculture

  • Lead the design and implementation of agronomic programs aligned with Kenyan coffee production systems.
  • Provide expert guidance on coffee husbandry, soil fertility management, pruning, pest and disease control, and yield optimization.
  • Coffee estates management: support to improve production, quality, cost efficiency and compliance; act as a trusted technical advisor to farm managers.
  • Oversee the implementation of agronomic trials in approved demo plots · Drive the adoption of Regen Ag practices.
  • Support climate adaptation and mitigation initiatives including carbon reduction and resilience-building interventions.

Team Leadership & Capacity Building

  •  Lead, mentor, and manage field extension teams and agronomy technicians including the Soil scientist.
  • Build technical capacity through structured training programs and on-farm demonstrations.
  • Set clear performance objectives and support professional development of team members.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and farmer-centric service delivery.

Project Supervision, Monitoring, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Oversee the implementation of agronomy-project activities.
  •  Coordinate data collection from field teams.
  • Develop and manage operational budgets and expense tracking for project activities.

Compliance & Certification Support

  • Support the Certification Coordinator in the implementation of compliance standards.
  • Support in the coordination of internal audits, external audits and corrective action plans.
  • Train field teams and farm management on certification standards and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’ degree in Agronomy, Crop science, Agriculture and Environmental Science.
  • 5+ years work experience working in the Kenyan coffee sector.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
  • Farm management experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
  • Familiarity with digital agronomy tools, farm data collection and performance monitoring systems.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Coffee Wet mills operations.
  •  Ability to bridge commercial, sustainability and farmer realities.
  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili.
