Job Title: Senior Legal Executive

Location: Kuala Lumpur (with travel to/from Johor Bahru, as & when required)
Reports To: Senior Manager, Corporate Affairs (Legal, KL Office)
Additional Reporting: General Manager, Corporate Affairs Division
Entity: JLG Services (JLGS), serving the internal and external clients of JLGS including JLG Group
Job Purpose / Scope
To provide comprehensive legal support across JLGS clients including JLG Group, ensuring legal compliance, risk mitigation, and strategic legal advisory. The role supports both operational and corporate matters, including contracts, litigation, corporate exercises, and governance, contributing to the Group’s legal integrity and business objectives.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Legal Advisory & Opinion
- Identify legal issues and provide sound legal opinions and solutions.
- Advise on matters affecting the interests of JLGS clients’ including JLG Group.
2. Contract Drafting & Review
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts (e.g., vendor, service, procurement, NDAs).
- Ensure contracts comply with legal standards and internal policies.
3. Corporate Exercises & M&A
- Support corporate restructuring, mergers & acquisitions, and strategic transactions.
- Collaborate with business units and departments to safeguard legal interests.
4. Conveyancing & Land Matters
- Assist with land documentation and legal aspects of property transactions.
- Coordinate with relevant units on land-related legal issues.
5. Intellectual Property
- Advise on IP matters and ensure protection of JLG Group’s intellectual assets.
6. Litigation & Dispute Resolution
- Coordinate dispute resolution and litigation processes.
- Liaise with external counsel and evaluate alternative dispute resolution options.
7. Regulatory Compliance
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments.
- Assist in policy development and ensure compliance with applicable laws.
8. Internal Legal Support
- Provide legal guidance to business units on employment, data protection, and governance matters.
- Attend meetings and report outcomes to superiors.
9. Records & Document Management
- Maintain accurate records of legal documents and contracts.
- Ensure proper filing and database coordination with business units.
10. Legal Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare legal updates, board papers, management reports, and presentation decks.
11. Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaise with external solicitors and consultants.
- Assist in the appointment and management of legal service providers.
12. Operational & Administrative Support
- Support the development and updating of company policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure operational efficiency.
Qualifications & Skills
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B) from a recognized university, Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) or equivalent.
Experience
- 2–5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in an in-house legal team or law firm.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of corporate, commercial, and regulatory law.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
