Position Summary

This position is responsible all imported goods and coordinating the exportation of items in a manner consistent with company policies, government regulations, and applicable laws.

 

Position Type: Full Time, Exempt

 

Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities

  • The Customs and Trade Compliance Manager will provide expertise and oversight of a broad range of import, export, trade remedies, origin determination, customs valuation, anti-dumping and countervailing duty and other trade compliance activities.

 

  • Monitor and keep current on the rapidly changing trade environment, trade-related regulatory and legislative changes, customs rulings, and court decisions; communicate impact to the business and take appropriate actions to protect and deliver benefit to the business.

 

  • This role focuses on mitigating risk, monitoring regulatory changes, and developing and enhancing the company’s trade compliance framework. Develop and implement trade compliance risk mitigation programs and strategy.

 

  • Perform and manage import/export audit program, implement scorecard to measure customs and trade compliance, execute after action review to determine root cause and implement corrective actions.

 

  • Manage and communicate with U.S Customs & Border Protection and other governmental departments to resolve import and export issues. Create response to CF28, CF29, and other requests.
  • This position requires a manager with strong knowledge of customs valuation, origin determination, AD/CVD investigations, has robust analytical skills to scrutinize case scope to determine applicability.

 

  • This role will be responsible for the development, execution, and maintenance of the U.S compliance program.

 

  • Ensure company compliance with all applicable customs and trade regulations, enforce compliance, create, and deploy policies and procedures, deliver training, develop, and drive process improvements and to optimize duty reduction with all available duty mitigation programs.

 

  • Drive cost savings and efficiencies through continuous improvement and effective management of trade compliance program, efficient internal processes, free trade utilization, return goods provisions, section 301, etc.

 

  • Classify goods and maintain databases for all products.

 

  • Provide subject matter expert advice and guidance regarding all aspects of trade compliance.

 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, finance, and supply chain, to ensure trade compliance requirements are integrated into business operations.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must pass any drug screens, background checks and any pre-employments tests as applicable.
  • Must have extensive knowledge in importing, exporting, and global trade compliance, including tariff classification, customs valuation, customs audits, and C-TPAT requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or A CHB licence plus 5 years’ experience.
  • Five years’ experience with importing parts and/or machines
  • Licensed Customs Broker
  • Knowledge and experience with Drawback and FTZ procedures

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
  • Seven years of experience with importing parts, spares and/or machinery.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Familiar with conducting regulatory audits
  • Experience working with U.S. Customs officials
  • Knowledge of international trade laws and regulations

 

Job Conditions:       

  • Both office environment and occasionally manufacturing/factory environment
  • Subject to noise and temperature changes
