JBT Marel is looking for a customer-focused and technically skilled Field Service Engineer to join our Service team, supporting customers primarily across Italy and Greece. What you’ll be doing

  • Carry out inspections, preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, and fault-finding at customer facilities.

  • Provide accurate, detailed, and timely service visit reports following each customer intervention.

  • Deliver technical support for all machinery within your area of responsibility, advising customers on maintenance best practices, spare parts, and available upgrades.

  • Identify recurring technical issues or trends and proactively communicate these insights to your manager.

  • Train customers on machine operation, maintenance routines, safety standards, and cleaning procedures.

  • Support the creation, implementation, and continuous improvement of Service Department working procedures.

  • Respond to technical questions from customers, fellow technicians, and the sales team.

  • Identify potential sales opportunities and support the Sales organisation by providing technical expertise and customer assistance.

About You

You are a hands-on, customer-oriented service professional who takes ownership of your work and enjoys being the trusted technical partner for customers. You communicate clearly, work confidently in the field, and remain flexible when balancing travel, customer priorities, and service demands.

You enjoy sharing knowledge with colleagues, working as part of a wider international team, and ensuring customers receive reliable, high-quality service every time.

You’ll bring

  • Strong mechanical and electronic expertise, including PLCs, HMIs, and VLTs.

  • A customer-first mindset with a genuine commitment to service excellence.

  • The ability to work independently in a remote environment, supported by digital tools and remote support systems.

  • Good working knowledge of Salesforce, Outlook, and Microsoft Office.

  • A collaborative approach and willingness to share best practices within the Service team.

  • Excellent communication skills in both Italian and English (fluent Italian is essential).

  • A valid driving licence.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Approximately 5 years’ experience in machine servicing within food processing plants (candidates with less experience will also be considered).

  • Proven experience working with complex industrial machinery in a customer-facing environment.

  • Experience supporting customers across multiple locations and cultures is an advantage.

Travel & Location

  • Primary responsibility for customers in Italy and Greece, with occasional support to colleagues across the EMEA region.

  • High level of flexibility required, including the ability to work variable hours and weekends when necessary.

  • Expected travel commitment of approximately 80%.
