About this role
The Import Export Clerk supports daily import and export operations within a maquiladora/manufacturing environment in Tijuana, ensuring compliance with IMMEX program requirements, Mexican customs regulations, and U.S.–Mexico cross-border trade processes to support uninterrupted production.
A. Prepare and review import and export documentation in compliance with IMMEX regulations.
B. Support temporary and definitive imports and exports of raw materials, components, machinery, and finished goods.
C. Assist in preparing customs documentation such as pedimentos, commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
D. Coordinate daily cross-border shipments between Tijuana and the United States.
E. Communicate with customs brokers (agentes aduanales), freight forwarders, and transportation providers.
F. Track shipment status and follow up on customs clearance issues.
G. Maintain accurate records and electronic filing of import/export documentation.
H. Support inventory control and reconciliation of bonded and IMMEX materials.
I. Report discrepancies, delays, or compliance risks to the Import Export Supervisor.
J. Assist during internal and external customs, SAT, or IMMEX audits.
Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in international Trade, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
· 1 to 3 years’ experience in import/export operations within a maquiladora environment.
· Basic knowledge of IMMEX program requirements and Mexican customs regulations.
· Familiarity with U.S.–Mexico cross-border operations.
· Experience working with customs brokers is a plus.
· Advanced English proficiency required
Preferred Knowledge & Training:
· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
· Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
· Good communication skills in English and Spanish.
· Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems.
· Compliance-oriented mindset.
