The IU Health North Schwarz Cancer Center Infusion Center is dedicated to providing a comfortable and supportive environment to oncology patients needing chemotherapy and other specialty infusions. This unit offers a collaborative, values‑driven environment where teamwork comes first. Shift: Full-time Day

Nursing skills gained on this unit:

  • Familiarity with treatment protocols, drug administration techniques, potential side effects, and the latest advancements in the field of oncology
  • IV Line management
  • Symptom management
  • Chemotherapy administration

Unit Successes/Designations:

  • Multiple DAISY nominations

Unit Culture Highlights:

  • Support for pursing OCN license

Qualifications 

  • Requires Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred. 
  • Education: The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
    • Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license. 
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. 
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. 
  • Other Advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
