About this role

Job Description:

Why Join Us?

At MTS, we design and build precision test and measurement equipment that helps engineers around the world push the limits of innovation — from aerospace to biomedical research. As a Transducer Technician, you’ll play a hands-on role in building the sensors at the heart of these technologies. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys detailed work, problem-solving, and seeing their craftsmanship contribute to products used worldwide.

What You'll Do

You’ll be part of a collaborative manufacturing team that:

  • Builds & Tests Products – Assemble and functionally test custom and standard strain-gage-based transducers using engineering prints and work instructions. Includes soldering, wiring, and small-to-medium component assembly.

  • Troubleshoots Issues – Use your problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues with design, documentation, materials, or processes.

  • Supports Engineering – Partner with engineers on prototypes, special calibration projects, and process improvements.

  • Optimizes Processes – Suggest and implement improvements for efficiency, accuracy, and quality.

  • Documents Work – Maintain accurate records, follow instructions, and update documentation when changes are needed.

  • Cross-Trains & Collaborates – Learn multiple areas of the operation, support different teams, and share ideas openly.

  • Maintains Standards – Keep work areas clean and safe using 5S principles, meet delivery and quality goals, and contribute to a respectful, team-oriented culture.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and motivated to learn. You don’t need to know everything on day one — we’ll train you — but success in this role looks like:

  • Experience or coursework in electronics, manufacturing, assembly, or related technical field.

  • Comfortable with small component assembly (soldering, wiring, mechanical build).

  • Ability to read and follow technical drawings or work instructions.

  • Problem-solving mindset with willingness to ask questions and suggest improvements.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Organized and able to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Impact – Your work directly supports cutting-edge technology across aerospace, automotive, biomedical, and more.

  • Growth – Cross-training opportunities, exposure to engineering and product development, and a supportive team environment.

  • Stability – Join a global company (ITW) with over 100 years of success and a strong culture of innovation.

  • Benefits – We have a best-in-class benefits package including company match 401(k)

  • Environment – Collaborative, respectful, and safety-driven workplace where ideas are valued.
