Job Description:
The Service Parts Material Handler is responsible for managing the procurement, inventory, storage, and distribution of parts and materials to ensure efficient operations. With minimal supervision, this position supports the service parts and warehouse organizations. It requires the individual to support service parts personnel in multiple capacities; database entry, planning, forecast, critical level analysis, etc. Material support requests are required until 6:30PM EST. Monday through Friday.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Load and unload stock by hand, manual or power pallet truck, store received materials in required locations, package outgoing orders appropriately and put assemblies and kits together.
Follow-up with shipment status with field service engineers and customers, etc.
Using proper handling tools, responds to order requests from field service personnel and customers in a timely manner including picking, packaging, and shipping, data entry of material received and sent, and communication to the responsible personnel.
Transport material from the appropriate area with proper handling equipment.
Prepares all documentation and paperwork required for shipment of equipment to various countries.
Establishes, updates, and maintains files on all incoming export orders.
Collects and stages parts requested.
Makes decision as to method of shipment of service parts based on size, weight, time, special customer requirements, and according to established procedures.
Maintains cleanliness of assigned areas.
Maintain database information of shipments and location.
Processes return inventory from Service personnel and segregates incoming materials for exception disposition.
Respond to Fast Spare requests in a timely manner (the immediate filling and dispensing of requests).
Responsible for integrity of the contents and markings of all containers.
Support the service parts group in all aspects.
Required at times to perform other duties in department as required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Ability Required:
This person must be self-motivated and need little or minimal supervision.
Takes initiative to improve a process or communicate an issue to his customer or supervisor.
Has a good attitude, accountable, energetic, neat and organized.
Works well in a team environment including a cooperative attitude.
Ability to read, write, count accurately, comprehend simple verbal instructions, and do basic mathematics normally acquired through completion of a high school education.
Basic interpersonal skills to deal effectively with service and department personnel.
Ability to operate power pallet trucks.
Ability to pay close attention to detail.
Some analytical skills to calculate invoices, prepare shipping documentation, and coordinate shipping arrangements.
Interpersonal skills including, written and verbal, to deal effectively and discuss complex policies with other company personnel.
Proficient in using MS Word, Excel, and other MS products and can input data into our system database.
Working Conditions:
Factory environment with some exposure to grease, dirt, noise, and operational equipment. Some lifting required (up to approximately 100 pounds – using assistance to lift over 40 pounds).
Work with freight movers i.e., UPS, FedEx, etc.
Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma
1-3 years experience
Administrative and organizational skills needed for coordinating activities of several functions, normally acquired through at least 2 years of progressively more responsible experience in an import/export related function
Compensation Information:
This position has a starting salary range of $28 to $30 per hour. Pay is determined by several factors, including a candidate’s experience, relevant skills, and qualifications.
