About this role

Job Description:

The Quality Technician is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to Quality Control to assure the quality and integrity of Company products.  This position visually inspects measures, and tests product to a standard or specification and documents accept/reject parts and assemblies.  

Responsibilities:

  • Verifies/Inspects Quality of mechanical/electronic parts/assemblies from suppliers to a standard (reads/interprets blueprints).
  • Interacts with suppliers to resolve quality issues quickly.
  • Documents and maintains Quality records.
  • Utilizes measurement equipment, order Inspection Gages, and coordinates/performs Calibration of equipment.
  • Charts and Posts monthly Yield to Failure Rate Charts.
  • Identifies and executes solutions for improvements in quality, productivity, product cost, and safety.
  • Communicates non-conforming Quality issues with Purchasing, Engineering, and Suppliers.
  • Submits Supplier Corrective Actions to suppliers. 
  • Inputs data into Quality Data Base on Non-conforming Receiving and Failure Analysis of Components
  • Performs inspection/analysis of production rejects/failures and customer returns providing feedback and taking the necessary corrective action.
  • Performs inventory management – Kanban, cycle counting, and physical inventory.
  • Models/follows Safety practices and policies
  • Perform inspections across all stages of production.
  • Performs site calibration activities and recordkeeping.
  • Perform AQL incoming inspection
  • Document and communicate non-conformance to suppliers
  • Maintains focus on continuous improvement by applying 80/20, PLS, and USa principles/techniques and makes process improvement recommendations to management.

Education:   An Associate’s degree in Electronics Technology or Quality Engineering Certification, or equivalent experience required.

Experience/Skills: 

  • Three (3) years previous experience or in a related area with extensive knowledge of quality/test processes and procedures.
  • Proficient in the use of Statistical and Testing Applications
  • Use of measuring devices and perform quality test. Test equipment includes but is not limited to the following:
    Calipers, height gauges, thread gauges, and vision measurement system
  • Excellent prioritization, interpersonal, organizational and multitasking skills
  • Must possess the ability to read blueprints and schematic diagrams
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) symbols knowledge
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent test and measurement skills
  • Above average product knowledge & technical aptitude
  • Excellent analytical/problem solving, troubleshooting and teamwork skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills are required.
  • ASQ Certified C.M.I, C.Q.T., C.Q.A. and CIT IPC A 610 (Certified Trainer) a PLUS but not required
  • CMM experience a PLUS but not required

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk, hear, climb, sit, stoop, crouch, feel, and grasp with hands and arms and occasionally twist/turn, and reach above shoulder and outward.
  • The employee must carry up to 50 pounds occasionally and push and pull up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include concentrated attention, close vision, far vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to bring object into sharp focus.

  • Typical plant conditions (100%)

Compensation Information:

The specific hiring rate within the posted pay range will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior experience. $26/hr (entry-level qualifications) to $31/hr (highly experienced).
