Job Description:

Are you a detail-driven HR professional who enjoys owning complex compliance processes while working independently across multiple teams?

Miller Electric is seeking a Benefits and Compliance Specialist to our central HR team. In this key role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring our leave of absence policies are adhered to and leading overall HR compliance efforts. You will oversee wellness programs, special events, and employee recognition, all while collaborating closely with HR teams across our 6 divisions in Appleton, WI.

How You Will Make An Impact:

Compliance:

  • Monitors compliance with regulations governing time off and pay practices across all states employing our workforce.
  • Collaborates closely with the corporate legal team and divisional HR leaders to ensure adherence to compliance requirements in all U.S. states.
  • Supports the immigration and I-9/E-Verify processes for the divisions, ensuring compliance with labor law postings and related regulations
  • Delivers Workday (HRIS) system support and supplies data to the HR teams within each division.
  • Oversees relationships with temporary labor vendors and ensures compliance with contracts.
  • Maintains records for both current and former employees.
  • Contributes to other projects as assigned by the Platform HR Director.

Benefits:

  • Ensures adherence to leave of absence policies and supports risk management efforts. This role collaborates with HR teams across all divisions to uphold compliance, streamline processes, and closely coordinate with the third-party leave of absence partner and corporate benefits team to oversee the leave management process.
  • Takes the lead on escalated benefits issues, providing support to the divisions and collaborating closely with the corporate benefits team.
  • Provides comprehensive support to all retirees by initiating processes, ensuring consistent communication, and addressing any inquiries.
  • Oversees the campus Wellness Initiative, facilitating communication with the divisions and driving corporate-led efforts by collaborating with division liaisons.
  • Oversees the Biometric Screening Process for the campus, collaborating directly with ITW and the divisions to coordinate all activities.
  • Coordinates employee mailing of holiday gift cards.
  • Organizes special events, including planning and communication for the annual Miller Electric Children's Christmas Party.
  • Administers the Miller Service Anniversary award process.

  • Communication: Strong proficiency in written and verbal communication.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of the organization
  • Confidentiality: Use good judgment and discretion with highly confidential business and employee information

Qualifications

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong technical aptitude with advanced skills in MS Office programs.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred).
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in HR or specialized training.
  • Compliance and Leave Management: Preferred experience in compliance and managing employee leave of absence.
  • HR Systems Knowledge: Solid understanding of HR systems, with a strong preference for experience with Workday.
