Context

The Resource Mobilization Division (RMD) is dedicated to expanding financial support of the IOM Country Offices as stipulated in the IOM Strategic Plan. The Division’s core function involves building and maintaining relationships with donors, diversifying IOM’s resource base, and enhancing IOM’s collective resource mobilization efforts.

Given IOM’s decentralized structure, donor engagement and resource mobilization functions are shared by different organizational and geographic units.  As such, the Division plays a pivotal role in streamlining and enhancing these functions. The Division adds strategic value by not only coordinating these efforts but also by offering essential guidance, developing and disseminating knowledge, and reinforcing organizational capacity to raise funds. As such, the Division serves as a central hub to ensure a cohesive and effective approach to donor engagement and resource mobilization within IOM’s decentralized structure.

Under the overall supervision of the Director of RMD and the direct guidance of the Head of Financing and Multilateral Development Bank (MDB) Engagement, the incumbent will contribute to strengthening the organization’s resource mobilization efforts by supporting strategic donor engagement and facilitating strong donor relationships.

About IOM

Established in 1951, the International Organization for Migration is the leading intergovernmental organization in the field of migration and is committed to the principle that humane and orderly migration benefits migrants and society.

IOM works with its partners in the international community to assist in meeting the growing operational challenges of migration, advance understanding of migration issues, encourage social and economic development through migration and uphold the well-being and human rights of migrants.

More people are on the move today than at any other time in recorded history: 1 billion people – comprising a seventh of humanity. A variety of elements – not least the information and communications revolutions – contribute to the movement of people on such a large scale. The forces driving migration as a priority issue are: climate change, natural and manmade catastrophes, conflict, the demographic trends of an ageing industrialized population, an exponentially expanding jobless youth population in the developing world and widening North–South social and economic disparities.
