INVEST OTTAWA – BAYVIEW YARDS


The Manager, Corporate Events & Partnerships is responsible for leading the delivery and implementation of Invest Ottawa’s flagship events and partnership initiatives to help drive stakeholder engagement, brand impact, and unrestricted revenue growth. The role implements established strategies and plans and contributes to revenue-generating partnerships, while providing people and project leadership, business development oversight, and data-driven decision-making to support Invest Ottawa’s long-term sustainability and ecosystem leadership.


  • Corporate Pay Band D: $72,000- $108,000
  • Hiring Salary Range: $72,000-$90,000
  • Reason for opening: A brand-new position
  • This position will be required to work onsite at Bayview Yards, minimum 10 days a month.



WHY THIS ROLE:

Reporting to the Director, Stakeholder Experience & Strategic Engagement, the Manager oversees the Partnerships Strategist and provides leadership across complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives, including major ecosystem events, corporate milestone moments, and revenue-focused activations. The role will contribute to the evolution and coordination of Invest Ottawa’s event and partnership delivery model as the organization scales its impact.


WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Provides people and project leadership across events and partnerships initiatives, establishing clear priorities, workplans, and performance expectations to support high-quality delivery.
  • Leads complex, multi-stakeholder projects from planning through execution, ensuring timelines, resources, and outcomes are effectively managed.
  • Provides ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance management to support professional growth, skill development, and accountability beyond task completion.
  • Collaborates effectively across Invest Ottawa teams, including Marketing & Communications, Programs, Finance, and Executive leadership, to ensure integrated planning and delivery of events, partnerships, and revenue initiatives.
  • Serves as a key liaison with external stakeholders, including corporate partners, sponsors, ecosystem organizations, and senior leaders, ensuring clear communication, alignment of expectations, and strong relationship management.
  • Accountable for the successful delivery and performance of Invest Ottawa’s flagship events, partnership initiatives, and revenue-focused activations, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and stakeholder expectations.
  • Leads partnership, sponsorship, and event activities that help drive unrestricted revenue growth, including with pipeline development, conversion performance, and sponsor retention.
  • Applies creative thinking to design and deliver engaging events, partnership models, and sponsorship activations that advance Invest Ottawa’s strategic, brand, and revenue objectives.
  • Identifies challenges and opportunities across events, partnerships, and business development activities, developing practical and innovative solutions to improve performance, conversion, and stakeholder experience.
  • With support from the Director, works within a complex environment involving multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and interdependent initiatives across events, partnerships, and revenue generation.
  • Applies critical thinking to assess partnership opportunities, sponsorship proposals, and event strategies against established criteria, escalating recommendations as appropriate.
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to monitor performance, identify issues and inform adjustments to ongoing initiatives with guidance from the Director as required
  • Makes day-to-day decisions related to the planning, delivery, and optimization of events, partnerships, and revenue-focused initiatives within established strategies, budgets, and policies.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the manager.



WHAT YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED/ GAINED THROUGHOUT YOUR CAREER:

  • Over 5 years of progressive experience in partnerships, sponsorships, business development, events, or revenue generation, ideally within innovation, economic development, corporate, or not-for-profit environments.
  • Post-secondary degree in Event Management, Fundraising, Hospitality, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Formal training or certification in project management or change management (e.g., Prosci, PMP, PRINCE2, Agile) considered a strong asset.
  • Demonstrated success in sales-oriented partnership development, including pipeline management, negotiation, and closing revenue-generating deals valued at $50K+.
  • Strong experience using CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, or equivalent) to manage leads, opportunities, reporting, and forecasting.
  • Training or demonstrated experience in sales methodology, pipeline management, or revenue operations considered an asset.
  • Proven ability to apply data and analytics to drive performance, improve conversion, and demonstrate ROI.
  • Experience leading complex, high-profile events with multiple stakeholders, sponsors, and revenue objectives.
  • People management experience, with the ability to coach, prioritize, and hold team members accountable for results.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
