Position Description

Title:                                       Material Planner

Department:                          Purchase/Inventory Control 

Immediate Supervisor:         VP of Operations

Status:                                   Salary Exempt                       

Position Purpose:                 The planning and ordering of major raw materials from pre-established suppliers to meet production requirements while managing inventory to ensure optimal levels of material. Maintain maintenance inventory system, periodic facility and regulator inspections, manage internal and external repairs (rolls, motors, pumps, mandrels, or maintenance items) and provide assistance to maintenance team.

 

 

Principle Accountabilities

 

  • Review, plan and execute the planning and purchase of raw materials to ensure timely delivery to support production requirements.
  • Review, analyze and ensure inventory levels of finished goods are correct and accurate. 
  • Update monthly pricing, both current and projected, as requested by the corporate purchasing and corporate procurement groups
  • Coordinate with the planning team to gain alignment for upcoming production needs
  • Coordinate delivery schedules for incoming materials to ensure delivery times are optimized
  • Communicates quality concerns to suppliers for correct disposition
  • Assist in the procurement of local supplies to support site operation
  • Analyze and maintain a database of non-standard item usage to ensure accurate ordering patterns and optimal inventory levels
  • Maintain supplier relationships
  • Coordinate and execute inter-plant transfer of material
  • Maintain spare parts inventory including:
    • Order spare parts when stock levels fall below minimums
    • Cycle counts
    • Manage Inventory locations and Cabinets
  • Maintain inventory system/process including maintenance supplies
  • Develop and Improve inventory management procedures
  • Report out on inventory usage accuracy
  • Report out on cycle count accuracy
  • Training personnel on inventory management systems, as required
  • Aids with shipping/receiving paperwork and systems input
  • Manage roll storage process including: incoming inspections, communicating with vendors for repairs, setting up orders, and roll history.
  • Manage internal and external repair work including, but not limited to: motor and pump rebuilds, mandrel repair, shaft repair, etc..
  • Perform other duties as required by manager

 

Essential Skills and Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field and 0-2 years of experience
  • Or Two-year Technical degree in Electrical or Electro-Mechanical sciences and 4-7 years of industrial experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills including ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Maintain system knowledge, to include AMMS, to properly support inventory evaluations, adjustments, and general transactions.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Combination of office and manufacturing work environment.
